So I set free myself from all the guilt that I thought I made.

I wish I could speak to myself as a little girl. I wish I could speak to the 3 year-old little girl from Ahvaz, Iran, walking onto US soil for the first time. I would hug her, hold her, tell her she’s safe. I would tell her that the things that should’ve broken her, would instead build her. I would tell her that it’s ok to be scared. I’m scared even now. But I would remind her of who she is, where she came from, and what she’s made of. It was the constant pushing against resistance, despite the fear, that would inevitably build her into the woman that she is today. It was in the fear that she found herself. So keep pushing…it’s scary, I know…but you’ll meet yourself on the other side.

The path is long, it’s windy, it’s bumpy. There are times that it’s downright ugly and unfair. But there has to be trust, an act of surrender, knowing that everything and I mean EVERYTHING happens for our highest good. It happens so that the spots within us that need extra care and attention are illuminated.

And that’s where the magic is. That’s where the healing is. That’s where the real you is. So trust, knowing that even the “bad” parts are meant for our highest good. And don’t forget, you’re never alone. So keep going #nazsquad, we’re right next to you!
